New single — September 18, 2026

Hermidgets returns on September 18, 2026, with “Like Moths,” a new dark synth-pop single that explores the absolute, almost ecstatic surrender to a destructive relationship.

Moving beyond conventional portrayals of emotional dependency, the track delves into darker psychological territory, depicting a devotion so total that it becomes inseparable from the desire for self-annihilation. The relationship is not presented simply as a struggle between victim and aggressor, but as a mutually destructive bond in which surrender itself becomes a form of desire.

The lyrics inhabit a state of radical vulnerability and submission, where the protagonist actively embraces their own dissolution:

“Learning how to pray for the pleasure of having nothing.”

The line captures the paradox at the heart of the song: the loss of everything is no longer something to fear, but something to be desired. Possession, identity and personal boundaries gradually lose their meaning, leaving only the strange pleasure of complete surrender.

This culminates in the song’s central image:

“And you will always be the trace that I will follow like moths attracted to the fire.”

The moth is drawn toward the flame despite its destructive nature, becoming a metaphor for the irresistible pull of a relationship that both people know may consume them. The fire is not merely an external threat: it is precisely what the protagonist continues to seek. Attraction and destruction become indistinguishable.

The accompanying music video translates this idea into a physical process of disappearance. In a stark close-up performance, Hermidgets’ face covered and transformed with white modelling clay, gradually erasing the features beneath the material.

The visual concept emerged independently from the song, but ultimately revealed a striking correspondence with its themes. The physical disappearance of the face becomes a literal representation of the dissolution of identity under the weight of a consuming bond.

The performance draws explicit inspiration from the unsettling body language and facial transformations of French artist Olivier de Sagazan, whose work similarly explores the instability of identity through the physical manipulation of the human form.

For Hermidgets, however, the obscured face also extends beyond the themes of the song. The deliberate erasure of the artist’s features reinforces one of the project’s central artistic principles: the refusal of a conventional artist persona and the pursuit of anonymity as an integral part of the work itself.

“Like Moths” was mixed by Matteo Sandri and mastered by Giovanni Versari.

The single will be released on September 18, 2026, as another step toward Hermidgets’ third album, currently expected in early 2027.

Hermidgets – “Could I Be Better”
Out March 6, 2026

Hermidgets returns with “Could I Be Better,” out March 6 — a track that dismantles its own origin.

The song was originally released years ago under a different title. What began as an attempt to remix it turned into a complete reconstruction. The structure was rewritten, parts of the lyrics reshaped, and the arrangement stripped to its core. What remains is not a revision, but a confrontation between past and present identity.

“I could have been a wise man / Could have been the one…”
The lyrics move through alternative versions of the self — lover, shelter, fool, proof — before collapsing into the recurring admission: “I could be better now.” It is not redemption, nor self-pity. It feels more like a lucid inventory of absence.

Musically, the track unfolds through austere synth layers and an implacable pulse that carries the tension forward without release. The atmosphere is nocturnal, minimal, emotionally suspended — drawing from the darker edges of contemporary synthpop, echoing the late-era work of Depeche Mode and the stark romanticism of Mareux.

As with every Hermidgets release, the entire creative process was handled independently: writing, arrangement, recording, performance, and visual direction.

The official black-and-white video, released simultaneously with the single, continues the project’s longstanding exploration of anonymity. Shot along a rural riverside landscape, layered performances create a fractured sense of presence, while the artist’s eyes remain concealed — a consistent choice since the beginning of the project. A parallel female figure moves through the same setting, shifting from detachment to emotional surrender before rising again toward the light. The visual language is minimal, intimate, and deliberately restrained.

Hermidgets previously released the albums The Mire (2020) and NIHIL (2024), gradually defining a cohesive and emotionally charged artistic identity. The independent single Could I Be Better, mixed by Matteo Sandri (known for his work with Sananda Maitreya) and mastered by Giovanni Versari (Muse), marked a further step toward a darker, textured and deeply melodic sound — treating melancholy not as fragility, but as creative substance.

Hermidgets releases “Sundown”, a new dark electronic synth-pop single out on December 5th, 2025.

Hermidgets — an independent solo project shaped by a deep fascination for melancholic melodies and electronic soundscapes — announces the release of “Sundown”, the second single from the artist’s upcoming third album. Entirely written, performed, and produced by the artist, the track continues Hermidgets’ pursuit of emotionally charged, introspective songwriting combined with a hypnotic, rhythmic pulse.

“Sundown” blends dark synth textures, pulsing basslines, and intimate vocal work, drawing inspiration from Depeche Mode and the modern darkwave sensibility of Mareux. The result is a brooding and immersive sonic landscape where tension and release coexist, held together by a melancholic sense of inevitability.

Driven by reflective lyrics like “What are we doing here / We’ve done this dance too many times,” the track delves into the inevitability of cyclical relationships—those patterns we recognize yet repeat, even as they edge toward self-destruction. “I don’t believe in telling people what to feel. The music has to speak for itself, without my face in the way,” says Hermidgets. “This song is a mirror – it reflects whatever you bring into it.”

In simultaneous to the release of their new album “Nihil” (about) on June 9th, Hermidgets (about) unveiled a captivating video for their latest single “We Tend to Disappear.” The song, like the entire album, presents itself as an anthem to nihilism, not as a rejection of values, but rather as an opportunity.

In “We Tend to Disappear,” Hermidgets masterfully blends their distinctive style of dark and melancholic synth-pop with profound introspection. The song pays homage to the ability to navigate the complexities of existence, embracing the absurdity of life and our finitude, while maintaining a sense of profound wisdom.

The accompanying video is a celebration of video art, where Hermidgets captivates viewers through plays of light, shadow, and close-ups. Adding further depth to the nihilistic yet consoling message is the serene yet intense face of a young girl, who serves as an alter ego, allowing the artist to convey their message while maintaining anonymity.

HERMIDGETS Unveils Second Album “NIHIL” – A Dive into the Abyss of Nihilism

After his debut album “The Mire” in 2020, HERMIDGETS (about) returns with his anticipated sophomore release, “NIHIL.” set for release on June 9th. Derived from the Latin word for ‘nothing,’ “NIHIL” is a seven-track journey into the depths of existential emptiness and dissonance, set against a backdrop of distorted synth-pop melodies.

Building upon melancholic melodies and distorted synthesizers that defined his previous work, HERMIDGETS delves deeper into the abyss of nihilism with this latest offering. Each track serves as a haunting reflection of the artist’s fascination with the existential void, weaving intricate sonic tapestries that captivate and unsettle in equal measure.

I composed this album using just two analog synthesizers, a selected drum sample library, and my voice. This self-imposed limitation inspired creativity despite the boundless possibilities of electronic music. My goal was to craft deeply melancholic, singable melodies, supported by constantly present synths with carefully crafted tones, sometimes distorted and other times enveloping

Accompanying the musical odyssey of “NIHIL” are four equally mesmerizing and unsettling video artworks, meticulously crafted by HERMIDGETS. In this project, the visual aspect is as fundamental as the auditory, serving to enhance and reinforce the sonic experience, beckoning listeners to fully immerse themselves in the artist’s dystopian vision.
